The duty of the board related to its operations typically includes establishing regulations concerning ethical standards and proper conduct within the profession. Setting rules for unethical conduct is crucial, as it ensures that all licensed practitioners adhere to a strict code of ethics, promoting integrity and public trust in the mortuary profession. This responsibility helps protect consumers and maintains the industry's professionalism by holding practitioners accountable for their actions.

Conducting surveys on public perception of mortuary services might be relevant to understanding the community's needs, but it does not directly relate to the operational duties of the board. Offering financial assistance to funeral homes or providing marketing aid to licensees may be beneficial practices, but these are not typically within the core operational responsibilities of a regulatory board, which focuses more on regulation and oversight rather than financial support or marketing strategies.
